My last column on The Prosecution of George W. Bush for Murder, brought some very ugly email as well as one polite disagreement. Let's look at what two Americans had to say about my column. Email one:
"...withdraw from this heinous, unconstitutional war in Iraq (and Afghanistan)." When I read lines like this in your column.. I think many things... sick and demented..a traitor... a fellow traveler...a frustrated woman perhaps sexually repressed and therefore hates men. What ever... I think you ought to go on a long vacation into wherever it is your fantasy exists. I hope your car blows up and fuel for it becomes non-existant. I hope lightning destroys the transmission lines to your part of town and somehow you are blamed for it. The "sick and demented" I guess it the most fitting description." Semper Fidelis. Larry Pate
In order to avoid this kind of juvenile ranting; I simply hit the block box so I will no longer receive email from the sender. Bush's invasion of Iraq and Afghanistan was and is unconstitutional. ONLY Congress has the power to declare war. In order to change that, you have to amend the U.S. Constitution. Of course, since the U.S. unlawfully entered into this unholy alliance with the communist UN, members of Congress and presidents simply ignore the law of the land.
During Congressional hearings on going to war against Iraq, treasonous Council on Foreign Relations point dog in the House, Rep. Henry Hyde, [R-Il] stated that declaring war is "anachronistic, it isn't done anymore..." A darling of the deaf, dumb and blind socialists [liberals], the late, Tom Lantos, [D-Ca] called the declaration of war "frivolous and mischievous." On January 7, 1999, USA TODAY, former Clinton Secretary of Labor, Robert Reich said, "...when the president decides to go to war, he no longer needs a declaration of war from Congress."
Really? Who died and made these pompous weasels kings in this country? These quivering cowards in Congress dodged their sworn oaths to allow this unconstitutional invasion of Iraq and Afghanistan by falling back on a resolution. Side stepping the U.S. Constitution has become the norm, while the American people "patriotically" send their husbands, wives and children into unnecessary wars to enrich the corrupt.
What is grotesque about the invasion and occupation of Iraq? Let's start with the human element. 4,107 of our soldiers have been killed so far; tens of thousands injured and maimed for life. At a minimum,100,000 innocent men, women and children killed in Iraq by U.S. and other allies. Millions displaced from their lives and homes. This is one of our soldiers who will pay the price for Bush's lies for the rest of his life. "This twenty-year-old young man was trapped for twenty minutes in a fiery ammunition truck in Iraq. He was left with disfiguring burns on his face, head, arms and legs. This is what he looks like after more than two dozen surgeries."
The U.S. military has been using depleted uranium in their ordnance for decades. Email number two came from a Mr. Mann, who was polite in his comments. He said I was operating more on emotion than fact about the invasion of Iraq. Regarding DU, he said:
"Yes, spall (or dust) comes off of the DU round-only when it hits armor or something really hard. It is so depleted though that it is BARELY above the earth's own background radiation levels. I know you won't believe it, but DoD studies before DU was accepted show this. You can probably find it on the internet once you get past the hype. There is a problem when you enter an armor vehicle shot with it-so keep people out of shot up tanks! But, it works. It is war. Bombs pollute. Cluster bombs only have a 60-70% explosion rate and become mines that do hurt innocents."
Depleted Uranium Shells Used by U.S. Military Worse Than Nuclear Weapons
"Inhaled or ingested DU particles are highly toxic, and DU has been classified as an illegal weapon of mass destruction by the United Nations. The United Kingdom Atomic Energy Authority has estimated that 50 tons of DU dust from the first Gulf War could lead to 500,000 cancer deaths by the year 2000. To date, a total of 2,000 tons have been generated in the Middle East...."More than ten times the amount of radiation released during atmospheric testing [of nuclear bombs] has been released from DU weaponry since 1991," said Leuren Moret, a U.S. nuclear scientist. "The genetic future of the Iraqi people, for the most part, is destroyed. The environment now is completely radioactive." Because DU has a half-life of 4.5 billion years, the Middle East will, for all practical purposes, be radioactive forever."
Depleted Uranium (DU) - Silent Genocide
"Before the damage we inflict grows greater, before history's judgment gets worse, before we contaminate the whole world - even before we vote in the next election - we must stop what we're doing. We must stop now. It's time to listen for a moment not to defense analysts, briefing officers, pols or pundits, but to people like Jooma Khan, a grandfather who lives in a village in Laghman Province, in northeastern Afghanistan, who is quoted above.
"Surely he deserves 30 seconds of our undivided attention. "When I saw my deformed grandson," he told an interviewer in March of 2003, "I realized that my hopes of the future have vanished for good. (This is) different from the hopelessness of the Russian barbarism, even though at that time I lost my older son Shafiqullah. This time, however, I know we are part of the invisible genocide brought on us by America, a silent death from which I know we will not escape."
Update on Depleted Uranium and Gulf War Syndrome
"Dr. Sharma's research established the fact that Gulf War Veterans from the 1991 War, were excreting measurable amounts of DU in urine, eight and nine years after their return from the Middle East. The DU particles had also spread to contaminate civilians, and the environment...
"A study of the birth defects in the children of veterans in the U.S, undertaken by Han Kang, U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs, focused on the first pregnancy which veterans of the first Gulf War had after returning home. Slightly less than 21,000 veterans, from all four branches, active and retired were included in the study (about 70% of those to whom questionnaires were sent). Male veterans were two times as likely, and female veterans were almost three times as likely, to report children with birth defects than their counterparts who did not serve in the Gulf. Likely birth defects included webbed fingers and toes, heart murmurs, chromosomal abnormalities, and brain tumors. The researchers excluded developmental disorders, perinatal complications and pediatric disorders from the study. Male veterans reported miscarriages more often, and the increase, 1.62 times, was statistically significant."
Depleted Uranium Dust - Public Health Disaster For The People Of Iraq and Afghanistan. Dr. Jawad Al-Ali (55), director of the Oncology Center at the largest hospital in Basra, Iraq stated, at a recent ( 2003) conference in Japan:
"Two strange phenomena have come about in Basra which I have never seen before. The first is double and triple cancers in one patient. For example, leukemia and cancer of the stomach. We had one patient with 2 cancers - one in his stomach and kidney. Months later, primary cancer was developing in his other kidney--he had three different cancer types. The second is the clustering of cancer in families. We have 58 families here with more than one person affected by cancer. Dr Yasin, a general Surgeon here has two uncles, a sister and cousin affected with cancer. Dr Mazen, another specialist, has six family members suffering from cancer. My wife has nine members of her family with cancer."
"Children in particular are susceptible to DU poisoning. They have a much higher absorption rate as their blood is being used to build and nourish their bones and they have a lot of soft tissues. Bone cancer and leukemia used to be diseases affecting them the most, however, cancer of the lymph system which can develop anywhere on the body, and has rarely been seen before the age of 12 is now also common."
Our soldiers are coming home and dying from DU exposure. Their children from both Gulf Wars are being born with horrible birth defects and yeah, I do get a little emotional about this. A phony "war of liberation" and nation building that is a gross misuse of our military, but fits in perfectly with the plans of the mad power mongers who own Washington, DC. There will NEVER be any "success" or "mission accomplished" in Iraq. Every single nation building invasion the U.S. has ever participated in has turned into a nightmare:
"Morton Abramowitz and Heather Hurlburt correctly pointed out in a July 12, 2004, piece, "No fewer than nine times over the past decade, Western powers have deployed noble rhetoric, soldiers and taxpayer dollars in the service of nation-building. And no fewer than nine times, they have, to one degree or another, failed to build stable, self-sustaining nations. The litany consists of Somalia, Haiti, Bosnia, Kosovo, Sierra Leone, East Timor, Liberia, Afghanistan and Iraq. The best one could say is that they are works in progress. The worst: Too many of them still can't function on their own and continue to pose threats to their own citizens as well as U.S. national interests. While genuine good—both humanitarian and security-related—has come of these efforts, the results have fallen far short of our professed objectives, consumed enormous resources and political capital, and left uncertainty about the U.S. and international commitment."
Iraq was destined to be picked off a long time ago. The way to do it was to convince the American people Iraq was a threat to America and when that didn't work, resort to justifying this invasion as a "war of liberation."
March 20, 2004: President justifies U.S. war of 'liberation.' "There are still violent thugs and murderers in Iraq, and we're dealing with them," Bush said. "But no one can argue that the Iraqi people would be better off with the thugs and murderers back in the palaces. Who would prefer that Saddam's torture chambers still be open? Who would wish that more mass graves were still being filled? Who would begrudge the Iraqi people their long- awaited liberation?"
Really? 5.1 MILLION Iraq's are now displaced in their own country or are refugees abroad. "Long awaited liberation," Mr. Bush? From author Jeri Lynn Ball, four years ago:
"In Stalin's Russia, notes Mikhail Heller, enemies were blamed for everything; they were used to justify the invasion of Czechoslovakia (1968), the invasion of Afghanistan in 1980, and so on. The Soviet Communists were thus able to manipulate Soviet citizens into supporting government hunts for "terrorists," "traitors," and spies, for "liberation wars" for humanity.
"Using Marxist-Leninist strategies, the Russian, Chinese, and U.S. ruling elites have sought to frighten Americans and other populations with the specter of ruthless mass terror. They have created enemies and blamed them for everything including terrorist acts. They have used them ...to manipulate Americans into supporting government hunts for "traitors," "terrorists," and these never ending "wars of national liberation." Their aim is to manipulate whole populations into supporting "wars of national liberation" and achieving not only the sovietization of "liberated" underdeveloped countries such as Afghanistan and Iraq, but also the full altruization and sovietization of the United States and other Western nations.
"On September 20, 2001, President Bush said, "Americans are asking: Who attacked our country? The evidence we have gathered all points to...al Qaeda...This group and its leader - a person named Osama bin Laden - are linked to many other organizations in different countries...There are thousands of these terrorists in more than 60 countries. They are recruited from their own nations...and brought to camps in places like Afghanistan, where they are trained in the tactics of terror. The Chinese and Russian Marxist-Leninist-Maoist ruling elites were the originators and developers of air terrorism, they have provided terrorist training courses for Arab guerrillas and global Communists, and they have thus been able to blame acts of terrorism on "fanatics" and "rogue terrorists."
"Today, however, the Russian killers are back in Afghanistan, providing "humanitarian" aid to the "oppressed" peoples. The Russian, Chinese, and American governing elites manipulated the American people into fighting a "liberation war" in Afghanistan. On January 28, 2003, President Bush said, "In Afghanistan, we helped liberate an oppressed people." The Bush Administration now seeks to assist the Russians in their attempt to achieve the altruization and sovietization of Afghanistan, promoting community building and community values (the Communist morality), "strengthening" institutions, "educating" the children, developing media capacity, setting up "cultural exchange programs," and otherwise remaking Afghanistan in the image of the Soviet Communist totalitarian police state."
Getting Away with the Supreme International Crime. June 18th, 2008. "Here is the picture: over 1.5 million killed, 4 million refugees inside Iraq, 3 million outside Iraq, 75% unemployed, cancer rates increased 20,000% since 2003, no medical system, no functioning economy, prostitution is rampant and Iraq has the highest number of women turned prostitutes more than any country that experience war; US detains over 28,000 Iraqis kids below age 18, and over 110,000 adults; US and Shiites divided Baghdad with concrete walls, electricity is available every 4-6 days, no clean water, gasoline is scarce, and the killers still kill and no one knows who is killing who except of course the Americans."
What the Iraq War Is About by Paul Craig Roberts, April 23, 2008: "If the U.S. invaded Iraq for any of the succession of reasons the Bush regime has given, why would the U.S. have spent $750 million on a fortress "embassy" with anti-missile systems and its own electricity and water systems spread over 104 acres? No one has ever seen or heard of such an embassy before. Clearly, this "embassy" is constructed as the headquarters of an occupying colonial ruler. The fact is that Bush invaded Iraq with the intent of turning Iraq into an American colony. The so-called government of Maliki is not a government. Maliki is the well paid front man for U.S. colonial rule. Maliki's government does not exist outside the protected Green Zone, the headquarters of the American occupation."
Iraqis See US Embassy as Affront. April 24, 2008: "It is a symbol of occupation for the Iraqi people, that is all," says Anouar, a Baghdad graduate student who thought it was risk enough to give her first name. "We see the size of this embassy and we think we will be part of the American plan for our country and our region for many, many years."
There is no intention of ever leaving Iraq: U.S. seeking 58 bases in Iraq, Shiite lawmakers say
January 5, 2008. Iraqi Soldier Kills Two American GIs During Joint Mission in Baghdad. "According to Brig. Mutaa Habib Jassim al-Khazrachi, commander of the Iraqi army's 2nd Division, an initial investigation has indicated that the Iraqi soldier has links to militant groups in the area."
January 6, 2008. Iraqi Soldier Who Killed 3 GIs Hailed As Hero. "Unlike the empty promises and false allegations of Western leaders, the killing of the US soldiers was a direct response to the death, destruction and misery which the US and UK have brought with them to Iraq but more importantly, it was an act of defence and a reflection of the reality which Al-Jibouri and millions of Iraqis are facing daily."
June 13, 2008: Iraq war costs may reach $2.7 trillion. There is NO money in the U.S. Treasury. The Democrats continue (right along with Republicans) to throw more hundreds of billions of dollars for Bush's war - every penny will have to be borrowed from the privately owned and corrupt "Federal" Reserve. The interest slapped on our backs as well as our children and grand children. For what?
