The Up Side of Rigor Mortis

By all accounts the party of Lincoln is stone cold dead. Maybe it was doomed from the get-go. After all, Honest Abe was less than forthright with the American people, what with his predilection for breaking his oath to defend and uphold the Constitution during and after the Civil War. Students of the real Lincoln can cite chapter and verse of our 16th president’s list of crimes against the Constitution, which are chilling, even when viewed through the lens of the Obama nation we inhabit today.
But Lincoln came to call the White House home because the conservative party of the day- the Whigs- had bailed on some very important issues, including the epitome of “social issues”- slavery.
So, along came the Republicans and before long they had taken over both houses of Congress as well as the Executive branch. It had to happen because people in America were livid over the Whigs’ refusal to stand up to the expansion of slavery.
The same thing appears to be happening today. We have pretty much figured out we can no longer rely on the current day Whigs, the Republicans, to abide by our wishes on the “social issues” of our day- slavery of the American people to the tyranny of an out of control federal government and its fiscal debauchery, back breaking taxation, promotion of the alien invasion from the southern border and acceptance of endless foreign entanglements which end thousands of promising lives each year.
Add to the list the unforgivable sin of sidelining the life issue, giving a pass to the bloody testament to “choice” 50 million dead babies later, after the Supremes said “have at it, ladies.”
The Democrats have nothing at all to fear from the increasingly liberal Republican Party trying hard to reinvent itself through road shows that purport to “listen” to Americans, something the party hasn’t done in decades. The traveling circus starring former governor Jeb Bush and former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney would be funny if it weren’t so pathetic. Instead of the “Listening Tour” it’s billed as, it should more aptly be dubbed “Bring in the Clowns.”
Romney, one of the new standard bearers for the unbearably irrelevant party is jetting around the country saying things like: "Let's not underestimate the people… let's … listen to the people of America ... listen to what they're feeling and get their ideas.” Of course, this is laughable, given that the “people of America,” the party faithful Mitt’s addressing, have shared their “ideas” on issues like ilegal immigration, the “bailouts” and gun rights loudly and clearly, and the Republicans have completely ignored them.
Richard Viguerie, author of Conservatives Betrayed:How George W. Bush and Other Big Government Republicans Hijacked the Conservative Cause noted, “You can… re-brand damaged goods all you want, but they're still damaged goods… GOP establishment leaders are incapable of understanding the problem -- it's them.”
Viguerie pointed out that conservatism gained a foothold because some dared to buck the status quo saying:
“The ascendancy of conservatives to power was done by boat-rockers, not establishment politicians. Barry Goldwater laid the foundation of reducing government to conform to the Constitution.”
Viguerie suggested Republicans stop feeding the RNC pig by withholding financial support for the Republican machine while supporting real conservative candidates not fakers like McCain and Bush who helped pull the plug on the dying GOP.
So, if there’s a Republican running and s/he doesn’t pass the litmus test as a Constitutionalist they ought to be dispatched in favor of a candidate who does- regardless of party affiliation- even if it’s a third party.
People
are wising up. They used to blindly follow the “leaders”,
the power elite. Now the scales are coming off and they’re beginning
to see, really see what’s going on. Case in point are recent Gallup
and Rasmussen polls which show that people are questioning what they’re
told by media, politicians and business leaders about issues like global
warming and gun control. The spin cycle isn’t working so well anymore.
In the last year the number of Americans buying into the climate change
hoax has dwindled. Rasmussen
shows that only 34% say climate change is caused by human activity.
Less than a year ago, 47% believed humans were responsible.
On guns, Gallup found about 60 percent of those polled in 1960 were in
favor of banning handguns. That number dropped to 49% in 1965. In 2007
only 29% favored a ban, despite the endless anti-gun messaging coming
from the media, politicians and Hollywood.
While lazy media forgo anything resembling investigative journalismanymore, opting instead to cut and paste the latest disinformation from a biased source, the average person is now questioning things.
One college student proved just how easily mis/disinformation can be disseminated by reporters who rely on uncorroborated material for stories.
Shane Fitzgerald posted a fake quote on Wikipedia after he heard a famous French composer had died. He then watched as media around the world attributed that quote to the dead musician. This shows how easily the masses can be duped. It happens every time a reporter repeats a statistic or a “fact” without questioning its source. Shane did this as part of a class project. I hope he got an A plus.
What’s sure is that those “conservatives” in power are no longer making the grade. Time to hand out F’s and send them where I was told as a child old elephants go to die.
