When EFT Appears Not to Work

When progress with EFT seems stopped--or it seems like "it doesn't work"--EFT is usually not the problem. Rather, the reason for the lack of progress can most often be traced to the inexperience of the user. Why do I say this? Because those who master EFT don't miss very often. They not only get their share of "one minute wonders" but, compared to conventional techniques, impressive progress is also made for just about any problem with an emotional cause--including many physical ailments. In those cases where the masters are stumped, however, they don't point the finger at EFT for "not working."

Our session "opened the door" for her and gave her the means and understanding to work on more of her underlying emotional issues. As she worked on these issues, her fibromyalgia pains subsided. She is pain free all day and all night. So what happened? How did all this pain relief come about without medicine, surgery or other conventional methods?

This experience is reported by newcomer Larry Stewart, D.C.H. Shirley (Larry's wife) has had severe lactose intolerance for over 10 years. However, after Larry helps her with a few minutes of EFT she is able to eat all kinds of milk products with no problem whatsoever.

Through such investigation we have found that sometimes a person's problem (e.g. anxiety, panic attacks & depression) is due to an allergen (energy toxin) in their system. It is the allergen that is really causing the problem and, until it is removed from the person's environment or diet, the problem will persist no matter how much tapping we do. If someone drinks a gallon of gasoline, for example, their resultant ailment is best handled by a stomach pump and not the agile fingertips of a well meaning EFT'er. Similarly, wheat, sugar, pesticides and a long list of other substances can be allergens (gasoline, if you will) that literally cause the problem we are tapping for. Thus the difficult client--the one that makes no headway after repeated EFT'ing--is challenging us to look for other causes.

The EFT Course recommends that we "be specific where possible" when addressing a person's issues. Thus a war veteran might find it more efficient to tap on a specific event such as "the time I was held with a gun to my temple" instead of a more global issue such as "my war memories." But what about cases where the client presents a bothersome global issue (such as "I don't fit in") and, upon recalling related specific events, isn't really able to bring up any current intensity? Can we still address the problem? Of course we can. The following session with "Tinkie" demonstrates how.

"Dr. Fred" has been a friend/acquaintance of mine for over 20 years. He is aware of my recent involvement with tapping but doesn't really know much about it and, frankly, doesn't care. He is an MD (an accomplished surgeon) and there isn't much room in his belief system for "alternative techniques." In recent years Dr. Fred's health has been declining and he recently "retired" from the profession at age 61--actually, he is disabled from his many ailments. I listened patiently as Dr. Fred told his story and all the while my EFT wheels were turning. I knew I could help but I also knew that he would be resistant to this "Eastern tapping stuff." I didn't want to limit the process to a quickie round or two on some immediate issues. Instead, I wanted to get to core issues which, of course, would require his active involvement. So I looked for an entry point in our conversation that would bridge between his belief system and EFT. Here's how it went.

Jason's Motion Sickness

Darlene Wade details for us a recent success story on motion sickness which I think will get your attention. My comments are interspersed within Darlene's message.

Snoring

I wish snoring was one of our instant fixes, but it isn't--at least not usually. We've had varied results with snoring and many of them have echoed your positive (though not perfect) experience. The fact that you got "much improvement" is encouraging because, to my knowledge, very little else offers any relief for this problem.

Emotional Overeating

Are you overeating as a way to suppress or soothe negative emotions, such as stress, anger, anxiety, boredom, sadness and loneliness? According to a recent article at the Mayo Clinic website this may indicate you are you are an emotional eater.

Healthy Eating

A no-brainer, right? Well, yes and no. Some kids in schools actually justify that, since Snapple GrapeAde and red grapes have sugar in them, and that both are the same color, therefore they’re both healthy to have. The best one yet, though: Potato chips are crunchy and are made from potatoes, so that counts as a vegetable serving.

One of the great secrets to happiness is to be immersed in an activity that is complex, where you have the skills to match that activity. By stretching your mind as you work, you enter into a state of mind where you lose all sense of time.
