Paul Ellers

Hi. I'm Paul Eilers and I write PaulsHealthBlog.com. I started blogging in 2005 to help others who want to take charge of their health, like me.

When I was in college, my grandfather died of cancer. A few years later, a friend of mine died of leukemia when he was only thirty-two years old. Then my father died of cancer after being on oxygen for eight years. I decided I didn't want to end up like that.

I have a friend who is now eighty-eight years old. But when she was seventy-five, Mrs. Gravely's health was so bad her family considered a full-time nurse. Then one day, a friend educated her about health and nutrition. So she changed her diet and added whole-food nutritional supplements to her daily routine. It took two years, but gradually Mrs. Gravely turned her health around - and never did get that nurse.

These experiences started me on the path of wanting to know more about nutrition and how it affects our health. I read books, listen to audios and read online. Whenever I find something of interest to me, I try to post it on my blog.

I've now been married for nine years. My wife and I have a baby boy, Brady. I want to do all I can to be there as he grows up. And though I'm not yet a total health nut, eventually I would like to be.

About 1.3 million Americans have died in all the wars in U.S. history. That’s a lot of deaths. Today, though, we lose more than that number of Americans each year because of cancer and heart disease. Yet these diseases of affluence are unknown in many parts of the world. So for these reasons and more, there is a need for at least one more health report. And here it is.

Your Doctor's Dilemma

You may be wondering, "If nutritional cures are so effective, how come my doctor hasn't told me?" Well, doctors are in the middle of a very difficult period. Insurance companies, government agencies, liability lawyers and the health care system are some of the daily pressures that physicians face. In addition, the giant pharmaceutical companies have a huge impact on the medical industry through their financial power. The drug companies give enormous grants to medical schools and influence what is taught to medical students. Professors also get needed money for basic research. Who pays the piper chooses the song.

Happiness:
One of the great secrets to happiness is to be immersed in an activity that is complex, where you have the skills to match that activity. By stretching your mind as you work, you enter into a state of mind where you lose all sense of time.
