Weapons Technology
They devise more and more ways to subdue the populace, but as they
become more unjust and tyrannical, as they devise more and more ways to
steal our money and take our homes, their own guilt and fears will tell
them that they will need more and more devices to subdue the people
over whom they assert their tyranny.

research arm of the US Department of Justice is working on two portable
non-lethal weapons that inflict pain from a distance using beams of
laser light or microwaves, with the intention of putting them into the
hands of police to subdue suspects.

The Secret Service is tasked with protecting the President of the United States from assailants; and given that President-elect Obama has already been the target of assassination plots they may have their work cut out after January. But they have more than earpiece radios and armored limos to help them; the Secret Service can call on the very latest technology. Documents from a recent court case indicate that they have advanced directed-energy devices which are highly classified.
