The Godfather Complex

I hesitate to refer to Obama as a "leader" since he has none of the characteristics that world leaders must possess for their nations to be economically and militarily secure. But, that's what happens when you put an inept, totally inexperienced community organizer in a job that requires an experienced leader. (His predecessors were all the single most powerful men in the world.) That may be why the Russians now refer to him as "the Godfather." Obama, like the Chicago mobster he is at heart under the slick talking political veneer, believes he will succeed if he bullies and intimidates the American people enough to frighten them into abject submission. Or, at least, scares them to silence.

Medical Journals Pimp for Big Pharma

Many times the whole content of the written clinical tests are not all that favorable to the drug but that, of course, is not reflected in the capsulated, controlled synopsis that appears in the medical journals. In 1994, Dr. Paula Rochon, adjunct scientist for the Kunin-Lunefeld Applied Research Unit and several of her colleagues wrote a paper examining the impact of journals which were paid to publish controlled excerpts of clinical studies had on the medical community's acceptance of the drugs compared to actual medicinal value of the drugs examined. The study focused on one class of drugs only: nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs designed to combat arthritis. They found 56 trials. Not one of the published reports on the clinical studies presented any facts that were detrimental to the drugs tested.

De-globalization?

What happens when the world's greediest industrialists and even greedier bankers bite off more of the Utopian dream than they can chew? They choke. The good news is there is now a very real, very serious chink in the armor of globalization. World trade is plummeting because the transnational money barons: the industrialists, the bankers and the global merchant princes who saw the human chattel of the third world as the primary consumers of the 21st century have literally overextended themselves and although they collectively possess all of the money in the world, they literally ran out of the green stuff (or multicolored stuff), and their house of cards is about to topple.

An Economy Underwater

What happens when the whole economy sinks underwater like Atlantis? Other than fading into oblivion, that is. The tsunami-like impact will closely resemble what happens to a home owner with a mortgage that is construed to be underwater only on a much grander, and much more devastating, scale. When the balance owed on the home's mortgage exceeds the appraised value of the home, that mortgage is said to be underwater. Conversely, when the aggregate sum of the debts owed by a nation to its creditors exceed the ability of the nation to repay those debts, one can honestly say that.......

Veteran Guinea Pigs

The US government has a questionable history of using military personnel as guinea pigs to determine the potential health risks soldiers experience when they are exposed to caustic and sometimes deadly agents. During the period between the two world wars soldiers were deliberately exposed to mustard gas. Between 1945 to 1955 military personnel were exposed to radiation from nuclear bomb tests. In experiments conducted by the CIA and the US Army Biomedical Laboratory (under Project MKUltra), veterans were given the psychedelic drug Lysergic Acid Diethylamide, more commonly known as LSD. None of the military subjects given the drug consented to be guinea pigs, nor were any of them advised that LSD could cause long-term bizarre hallucinogenic psychoses. The experiments took place because the CIA and military intelligence believed LSD could be effective in interrogations and, the military believed, mind control. Some believed that LSD might lead to a cure for schizophrenia. When they realized LSD caused the problems they were trying to cure, the military moved on, leaving their victims to cope with the problems they induced.
